SAD: Six counties contribute to 50% deaths in mothers during delivery

Six counties in the country contribute to 50% of deaths as a result of child delivery.

The counties include Isiolo, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Migori and Lamu.

Speaking during the launch of a maternity high dependency unit in Mombasa Coast Provincial General Hospital, Board Chair lady, Margret Othigo said the maternal mortality has drastically reduced.

She further added that the maternal deaths can be reduced further if family doctors are increased in health centers and dispensaries so that they deal with the expectant mothers at a lower level.
