Tanzania bans female MP's from entering Parliament with fake nails and eyelashes

The Speaker is said to have warned women MP's that they won't be allowed into the chambers.

'With the powers vested to me by the constitution of the republic of Tanzania, I now ban all MP's with false eyelashes and false fingernails from stepping into parliament.'

The speaker is also considering banning those with excessive amounts of makeup from entering.

What made him arrive at this decision.

The minister for health, community development, gender told the house that about 700 Tanzanian women developed health complications as a result of wearing these beauty items.
