Juliano Kanyonyo who was a student at Gatitu primary school was found dead in his room on Sunday by his mother.
15 years old Kanyonyo was the third student in his school after scoring 376, closely following Grace Nyambura who scored 377 while the best student was Henry Mwaura who scored 382.
According to Joseph Kamande , his uncle, the boy underwent circumcision last Monday and was on the last days of his bed rest when he passed away.
Kamande said relatives went to his room on Sunday morning only to find him dead, with a bloody foam oozing from his mouth.
He praised the boy as hard working and determined, and regretted that his life had been cut short at such a tender age.
“I cannot explain the shock we have gone through because he was a perfectly healthy boy and his circumcision wounds were almost healed,” he said.
It was even more heartbreaking to receive his good results, he said, knowing he would not be able to celebrate them.
Kamande said the body was taken to Thika Level 5 hospital where an autopsy is expected to be conducted to establish the cause of his death.
The school’s head-teacher Robert Muchara also expressed shock at the death of the pupil who he described as bright and disciplined.
Elsewhere, Muchiri Brian Nderitu from Elite academy is the best candidate in Murang’a County while Technology Primary school is so far the best performing school.
The school had over 20 students with over 400 marks while the first three were Wachira Micky Muchoki (437), Mwangi Ken Maina (431) and Nelson Kamunyo (430).
