The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has condemned attacks on police officers who are on duty following the emergence of videos showing the drama.

The authority said these criminal actions interrupt the dispensation of security services and inconvenience law abiding Kenyans, and even the attackers themselves who by constitutional right ought to access quality policing services.

It added it is unacceptable for anyone to take the law into their own hands with a serving Police Service and a robust Judiciary in place and is likely to foster anarchy and break established order in society.

IPOA added it has been vocal in castigating the Police for unprofessional conduct and has successfully recommended prosecution of errant police officers to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, some of whom are already charged in court.

It added in a statement it defeats the purpose of police reforms when the public turn and commit the same offences they complain about when the police commit them.
