Mike Sonko celebrates birthday amid sad news over the death of his grandma

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko celebrated turning a year older. In the midst of those celebrations he also received some bad news.

As he was celebrating his birthday, he received some sad news, his grandmother, Fatuma Swaleh Ali. The late passed on Sunday night after collapsing.

Sonko describes his late grandmother as a role model and inspiration to generations.

Hours before that, Mike celebrated his birthday by penning a beautiful message to his mother, Saumu Mbuvi.

"On such a wonderful day at exactly 5:23pm, my all time woman crush, Saumu Mbuvi, brought forth into the world a bouncing baby boy in the name of Mike Mbuvi Sonko. I'm now a year older and I have another reason to celebrate life. Thank you all for the birthday wishes."
