Vitimbi star Mzee Ojwang’ underwent eye surgery at Lion's SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho, Nairobi on Friday.
The 77-year-old actor, whose real name is Benson Wanjau is being treated for partial blindness.
According to a tweet by Deputy President William Ruto on Friday, the government will pay Ojwang's medical expenses.
The Government will pay the medical bill for Mzee Ojwang. We wish him a quick recovery.

Ojwang’ joined the Vitimbi cast in 1985 and played as Mama Kayai's husband on the show that was aired on KBC.
