A man was allegedly beaten and stabbed in the chest by his wife in Jua Kali area, Mpeketoni after he arrived home late on Wednesday night.
A witness said Nancy Njoki, 25, attacked Alex Ngure with a kitchen knife when she did not buy his explanation on his whereabouts.
"We heard thuds and we thought that, as usual, the two were fighting only that this time it was Ngure who was being beaten because he was screaming. When we checked on them, the wife rushed out in a huff before we found Ngure lying on the floor bleeding and we rushed him to hospital," said neighbour Mutua Kitetu.
The 29-year-old man was taken to Mpeketoni sub-district hospital amid a police search for Njoki, who is said to have fled with the knife.
