One person has been shot and wounded by bandits during a Saturday morning raid at Mogil village in Kerio Valley.

The bandits have staged three more attacks in the area, two days after Deputy President William Ruto attended a peace rally in the region.

On Wednesday, heavily armed bandits attacked Kapen village in Kerio Valley less than a day after DP William Ruto visited the region to help restore security.

The DP assured residents that additional security officers have been deployed in the valley, including 3,200 Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) new recruits to reinforce the war on cattle rustling.

Elgeyo Marakwet police chief Sharrif Abdallah says the victim was shot on the head and had been taken to Eldoret for treatment.
Elders have started a process to reconcile communities in the region.
