Kenyans who have become great actors in Hollywood

You might have seen them in different movies from Hollywood, but I am sure many of you did not know that they are Kenyan. They are out there representing our country in a big way and so far so good they are making us proud.

1. Edi Gathegi

Edi  has appeared in a good number of movies. The 39-year-old was born in Kenya but grew up in Albany, California. He was first seen on screen when acting the movie the crank where he has had 16 film roles and 17 television roles.

He has gotten various awards and is an icon to many as a Kenyan Hollywood star.

2. Lupita Nyong'o

Daughter to Kisumu governor Lupita is another big star. The oscar award winner who was born in Mexico started her acting career in 2008 known as East River.

The 35-year-old has been in 10 films, 3 television roles and has been in the crew members work and has also had a voice role in a video game.

She has also made Kenya have a good name in the acting industry.

3. Mary Oyaya

The actress has had such an incredible childhood where she stayed in different parts of the world as her parents were diplomats and inspired her to do international relations. She has received her master's degree in international relations, and has well accomplished a second master's degree in international social development.

She made her way to the acting career where sh has been in 4 movies.

4. Owiso Odera

The actor who died in 2016  also represented Kenya in Hollywood. He was 43 at the time of his death and had been in a couple of movies.

The Originals, Madam Secretary, Unforgettable, Three Rivers, The Thirst: Blood wars, Flash forward, Minority Report, The Good Wife, NCIS-Los Angeles, The Unit, Numb3rs, The Millers and Blue Bloods.

5. Benjamin Ochieng

The actor and producer is well known for movies like Tears of the Sun (2003), God's Not Dead (2014) and Beautifully Broken (2018).

He is making moves in Hollywood and making Kenyans even more proud.

6. Charles Gitonga Maina

The 42-year-old actor is 6'10 and is also a basketball player. His famously known for  co-starring role in the 1994 film The Air Up There. He was born in Buru buru area Nairobi and decided to pursue his passion for basketball.

He went for the auditions that made him find himself for the second auditions with the friend. He was chosen for the main role and that's where his acting career began.

From wanting to be a great basketballer to finding himself on the big screen acting with hollywood stars.It was a great turn around for him that made Kenya have its own in Hollywood.
