Nick Mwendwa elected FKF president

Nick Mwendwa was on Wednesday elected FKF president taking over from Sam Nyamweya who withdrew from the race minutes before the elections.

Mwendwa garnered 50 votes out of 77 to beat Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier who garnered 27 votes. Mwendwa says his first job will be to restore order at the federation. The new president also says Harambee Stars' preparations for the AFCON 2017 qualifier match against Guinnea Bissau in March, start immediately.

The newly elected president says outgoing FKF Officials who are under investigations for misuse of funds won't be spared. Mwendwa says they will hand over all the documents to the government for further investigations.

Meanwhile Doris Petra was elected as the Federations vice president, becoming the first woman to hold such a post in the country. Petra polled 53 votes in the run off, with Dan Shikanda getting only one vote . Previously she worked with FKF as NEC member in charge of leagues and competitions. Eight candidates from Nick Mwendwa’s camp were also elected to the Federation's National executive committee.  There were no complains arising from the polls.
