Plans are underway to have Harambee Stars play two European Nations as part of their build to 2019 African Cup Of Nations qualifiers, Federation Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has revealed.

Mwendwa says they have established communication with the two nations but they cannot be named at this stage. FKF is also in touch with a contact in Asia over a possible friendly with an Asian nation next year.

Harambee Stars jetted back yesterday from DR Congo where they managed to beat them one nil in a friendly match thanks to a Michael Olunga strike.

The Sweden based forward scored Stars lone goal in the second half. Olunga has been in sensational form for his Swedish side, Djurgaden FC banging in goals at will in the last few weeks.

It started from second half substitute Paul Were, who danced through Congo’s defence from the left wing to see his cross hit the post but the former Gor Mahia striker was at hand to control the rebound and score past Kiassumbua Joel. Were had just been introduced into the match from the bench, reports.

This was Stanley Okumbi’s first away win since taking over as Stars’ head coach.

Kenya had struggled to settle down in the game from second half but their first half is a period to forget despite the victory. DRC Congo had completely dominated the game with Kenya’s rearguard being porous on several occasions.

DR Congo were the better side for the better part of the match but Kenyan defense led by captain of the day David Owino held on.
