KENYAN PRIDE: David 'Cheche' Ochieng Bags NASL Title! (Photos)

2016 has been a great year, football wise for Kenyans both locally and internationally with the likes of Harambee Stars, Harambee Starlets changing the scripts storming into history books.

Harambee Starlets are currently in Cameroon ahead of the forthcoming Africa women’s Cup of Nation (AWCON) final to be held between November 19 and December 3 in Limbe City of Cameroon, for the first time.

Harambee Stars are currently on an eight match unbeaten run after a poor start under new manager, Stanley Okumbi not forgetting the historic 1-0 win at DR Congo which has seen Kenyan catapult in the FIFA world ranking, sitting at position 85 just three points below China.

Well, Michael Olunga who joined djurgardens football club early this year finished as the club's top scorer with 12 goals on his debut season. Another Kenyan grabbing headlines in the international scene is David 'Cheche' Ochieng. This is after the Kenyan international defender was instrumental in helping his side, the New York Cosmos win their second consecutive North American Soccer League title and eighth overall on Sunday.

This is after defeating Indy Eleven 4-2 on penalties after a scoreless 120 minutes at Belson Stadium. His first NSL title on his first season with the North American side.

According to , the Kenyan defender came on as a second half substitute in the 59th minute. The Cosmos are the first back-to-back NASL champions of the Modern Era and just the second in the league’s history, joining the 1977-78 Cosmos.

Cheche could not hide his joy with jubilant celebrations, flying the Kenyan flag high.
