Police Barricade Roads Leading To Supreme Court Ahead Of Today's Full Judgment Of The Nullified Presidential Polls

Roads near Supreme Court have been barricaded by police ahead of the release of full judgment of the nullified presidential polls.

This comes a day after Chief Justice David Maraga complained Inspector general of police, Joseph Boinnet had ignored their calls to beef up their security. Police are now turning away some pedestrians and motorists from roads near the court ahead of the ruling set to start at 10 am.

Yesterday, a group of Jubilee supporters blocked the entrance of the court for hours accusing judges there of stealing their alleged victory.

Elsewhere, police have warned against blocking of major roads in protest against or for the Supreme Court. This warning comes a day after Jubilee supporters blocked Nairobi-Nakuru highway, at Maimahiu and Nyeri-Karatina road in protest against the Supreme Court ruling that nullified the presidential polls of August 8.

Police are now under instructions to disperse any group blocking roads. Chaos broke out outside Supreme Court in Nairobi when police used tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters that had blocked the entrance for almost six hours.

There are fears similar chaos may break out today.
