Kwingineko Atalanta iliwalaza Valencia 4-1.

Msururu wa habari za michezo;

Kiungo huyo amefungia United mabao 19 msimu huu.

Manchester United 2-1 West Ham: Paul Pogba scores twice from the penalty spot

Highlights
– Manchester United 2-1 West Ham: Paul Pogba scores twice from the penalty spot to seal a much-needed win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Felipe Anderson is denied a brace for incorrect offside call

– Manchester United get a much-needed win after Paul Pogba scores two penalties to down West Ham

– West Ham had the ball in the back of the net inside 10 minutes but Anderson’s strike was ruled out for offside

– United were then awarded a questionable penalty in the 17th minute which Paul Pogba converted with ease

– Anderson did get his 10th goal of the season four minutes after the break following a David de Gea error

– The Red Devils were then awarded a second penalty which Pogba stepped up again to covert the spot kick

If Manchester United get half this amount of good fortune in the Nou Camp on Tuesday night, Lionel Messi and Barcelona don’t have a prayer.

With his top-four hopes hanging by a thread, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer watched on in relief as West Ham had a legitimate goal ruled out for offside, conceded a dubious penalty and then hit the bar at 1-1, not to mention a worldie save from David de Gea to deny Michail Antonio.

But they say it’s better to be a lucky manager than anything else and Solskjaer sits this morning two points behind fourth-place Chelsea who play away to Liverpool at half-past four.

United’s match winner Paul Pogba admitted as much. ‘Yes, I think we had the luck today but you still have to take it,’ he said candidly. ‘Sometimes it’s not for us but was this time.’

Not surprisingly, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini was more downbeat. ‘I am frustrated of course. We deserved more than this scoreline but football doesn’t always reward the team that played better,’ he said.

‘Unfortunately for us there were some decisions against us, very difficult decisions for the referee but with VAR I am sure this game would have been 1-0 to us because Felipe Anderson was onside.’

To rub further salt in the wound, Pellegrini felt Martial was offside in the build-up to earning the late, winning penalty, the second converted successfully by Pogba.

All that said, to Solskjaer’s credit he has injected a spirit into United since replacing Jose Mourinho that means dramatic escapes are always possible. He also seems to have persuaded Paul Pogba to abandon his self-indulgent stuttering run-up at spot-kicks.

Hazard tears West Ham apart to send Chelsea third

Eden Hazard grabbed a brace, including a contender for goal of the season, to give Chelsea a vital 2-0 win over West Ham to move them up to third in the Premier League.

Eden Hazard produced some individual brilliance to help Chelsea beat London rivals West Ham United on Monday evening

The Belgian showed superb skill dribbling past three West Ham players to score a 24th minute opener, before adding a second with another sublime finish in the 90th minute.

The blues are now two points above Tottenham and three above Arsenal as the race for a Champions League place intensifies, having played an extra game.

Chelsea will miss him if he goes. We all will. Even by Eden Hazard’s elevated standards, this was on an altogether different plane. His manager Maurizio Sarri described his brilliant Belgian as irreplaceable. He’s not wrong.

Not that Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Fabian Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna and Ryan Fredericks appreciated his splendour. Hazard left all five in his wake to score a mesmeric solo goal which invigorated Chelsea’s hopes of Champions League qualification.

Hazard broke the deadlock by scoring a superb solo goal midway through the first half at Stamford Bridge on Monday night

No doubt, the Hammers’ embarrassed quintet won’t be the only Premier League stars who’ll be glad to see the back of him if – as is looking increasingly likely – Hazard signs for Real Madrid this summer.

There are still hurdles to overcome before the Belgian becomes a Galactico – namely Chelsea’s £100million valuation – but Real want Hazard and, unfortunately for Chelsea and English football, Hazard wants Real, though the Belgian insisted after Monday’s game that he is still to make a final decision on his future. We’ve seen this story before, we know how it ends. We must appreciate him while he is still here.

Jack Wilshere unveiled by West Ham after being released by Arsenal

Free agent Jack Wilshere ended his long stay at Arsenal by moving to London rival West Ham on Monday.

The 26-year-old England midfielder signed a three-year contract with West Ham, the club said.

Wilshere, who has 34 senior caps and two goals, was unable to win a place in England’s World Cup squad.

He spent his entire career with Arsenal, apart from loan spells at Bournemouth and Bolton, after joining the Premier League club’s youth system as a nine-year-old. Wilshere’s contract expired last month.

Delighted to have officially signed for West Ham United! After speaking with the manager and those at the club I knew my future was at the London Stadium and I can’t wait to get going now. It’s well known that I come from a family of Hammers and it’s a special moment to sign…
Wrote Wilshere on his Instagram upon signing a three-year-deal at the London Stadium.

Champions Chelsea Hammered As David Moyes Register First Victory With West Ham

Champions Chelsea failed to close the gap on the top two in the English premier league, following a 1-0 loss to West Ham yesterday.

This was the first victory for the hammers under David Moyes in five matches. Meanwhile, Harry Kane grabbed a brace, as Tottenham hammered Stoke 5-1, to return to winning ways and climb above Arsenal into fifth.

Other matches saw Leicester rally from behind to beat Newcastle 3-2, courtesy of a late Ayoze Perez’s own goal, while Christian Benteke missed an injury time penalty as Crystal Palace’s drew 2-2 with Bournemouth to drop to bottom, after Swansea beat West brom 1-0.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars were held to a barren draw by Zanzibar in the ongoing Cecafa tournament in Machakos yesterday. The result saw Zanzibar heroes retain top spot in pool A with seven points, and also become the first side qualify for the semi finals.

Kenya are second with five points and must beat Tanzania on Monday to make it to the last four. Meanwhile, Rwanda beat Tanzania 2-1.

‘I Already Want Him Sacked ‘ – West Ham Fans Unite Against Incoming Moyes

He may not have been confirmed yet as the new manager of West Ham, but Hammers fans are already uniting against Slaven Bilic’s chosen replacement David Moyes.

It is believed that the Hammers are likely to appoint David Moyes as Bilic’s replacement on an interim deal until the end of the season.

But the news has not gone down well, with a groundswell of opinion already rising against the Scot on social media.

West Ham Social launched a poll on Sunday with a simple ‘We want Moyes’ vs ‘We don’t want Moyes’ question.

With 5,491 fans voting, an almost unanimous decision was reached – 90 per cent of fans did not want the former Sunderland manager at the club.

Concerns have been raised  to vice-chairman Karren Brady over Moyes’ suitability, after he warned a BBC journalist last year she might ‘get a slap’ over her line of questioning.

The Scot admitted his comments were ‘wholly inappropriate’ and was fined by £30,000 by the Football Association

Bilic was sacked on Monday after only two wins in 11 games this season that have left the Hammers inside the bottom three.

Some fans claim they will not watch another game this season if Moyes takes charge.

West Ham Sack Slaven Bilic After Recording Just Two Wins In 11 Games

Slaven Bilic has been sacked as West Ham manager.

The Hammers have only won two Premier League games all season and will spend the international break in the relegation zone after losing 4-1 against Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Other candidates including former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and popular option Alan Pardew – who managed the Hammers between 2003 and 2006 – have been considered.

A statement from West Ham read: ‘West Ham United can confirm that Slaven Bilic has today left his position with the club.

‘The Chairmen and board of West Ham United would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude to Slaven and his team for their services over the past two-and-a-half years, but believe a change is now necessary in order for the club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition.’

Bilic took charge of West Ham in the summer of 2015 and led them to an impressive seventh placed finish in his first campaign.

But the Croatian struggled to follow up that performance last season and West Ham slumped to a position in mid-table.

He was followed out of the door at the London Stadium by his coaching staff, including popular former player Julian Dicks.

West Ham travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford after the international break.

United Travel To Bristol City While Arsenal Host West Ham In Carabao Cup Quarter-final Draw

Manchester United will travel to Championship side Bristol City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

With all big Premier League clubs avoiding each other, Arsenal host West Ham while Chelsea face Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. The final tie will see Leicester host Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The quarter-final ties are scheduled to be played on 19-20 December.

Reacting to the draw on his social media account, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson extended an invitation to United manager Jose Mourinho for a post-match drink.

He wrote: ‘Wecome to Bristol City Jose … “pop in to the office for a drink after aye”.

The draw, which was originally scheduled to take place at 4pm BST, was delayed by over an hour and 45 minutes following what was described as a ‘minor technical glitch at Twitter HQ’.

A Twitter spokesman said: ‘We’re sorry for the issues that led to the delay of today’s Round Five draw. We would also like to apologise to the thousands of supporters who had been patiently awaiting news of who their team would be playing.’

Manchester United, the defending champions of the trophy, made it into the hat for the quarter-finals after a solid 2-0 win over Swansea with Jesse Lingard scoring goals either side of half-time.

Their noisy neighbours and Premier League leaders Manchester City had it far from easy as they required a penalty shootout to down a brave Wolves team at the Etihad Stadium.

Similarly, Arsenal looked set to exit the competition to lower league opposition at home as Norwich outplayed a lethargic Gunners before youngster Eddie Nketiah came off the bench to score twice to send them through.

Chelsea needed several stunning saves from Willy Caballero to keep Everton at bay in their fourth round tie while West Ham completed a stunning comeback to knock out Tottenham and possibly save Slaven Bilic from the sack.

Bristol City are now the only non-Premier League club left in the draw after an impressive 4-1 win over Crystal Palace while Leicester and Bournemouth continued their pursuit of silverware with 3-1 wins over Leeds United and Middlesbrough respectively.
