AFCON 2017: Harambee Stars To Tackle Zambia

Harambee Stars will today take on Zambia in their final group match of the 2017 Africa cup of Nations qualifiers. Stars left for Zambia on Thursday following Tuesday’s barren draw with Uganda in Kampala.

Kenya has managed to register only one win in the group stages and are currently placed in the bottom of their pool with four points. A win will push them to second place with seven points while Zambia who are in third place must win tomorrow’s match to revive their hopes of securing a place to 2017 AFCON.

The match comes days after Harambee Stars held hosts Uganda Cranes to a barren draw in an international friendly match at the Nambole Stadium in Kampala.

The two sides used the match in preparation for their final Gabon 2017 African cup of nations qualifying matches set for this weekend. Uganda need a win against Comoros to qualify for the continental showpiece for the first time in three decades.

In other friendlies, England will today start life under Sam Allardyce when they take on Slovakia in their first match of the 2018 World cup qualifier.

The new head coach has made only three changes from the team that lost to Iceland in the Euro knock out stages. In the other matches set for today Germany will play Norway, Italy will take on Israel while Portugal will Switzerland.
