Finally the D-day is here. The day Kenyan Premier League's best players will be awarded in the annual FKF Footballer Of The Year awards ceremony, after another long, successful football campaign.

Jambo managed to speak to some of the players who will be battling it out in tonight's award gala as well as one of the coaches who was nominated in the 'Coach Of The Year' category.

Defender of the year category:

David Owino or better known as 'Calabar' is one of the nominees in the 'Defender Of The Year' category. Having won the title in the previous edition, the Gor Mahia centre back is hopeful that he will retain the award, amidst fierce competition.

"I believe I played satisfactorily." Said Owino on his last season's performances. "I did my best, gave my all to the squad which in return resulted to the title, which am so humbled about."  he added.

"What most people don't know is that I struggled much in the first leg with a recurrent injury but generally am very positive I did what the coach, the fans and my team mates expected of me. " Owino however, opened up on the striker who gave him tough outings whenever the two came across each other in the field of play.

"This nomination didn't come as a shock to me." Said the joyful Baraza. "My team gave the big cats a run for their money  all season, despite their tender age." "Muhoroni picks rookie players and moulds them to stars who fight against the established teams in the league." Baraza noted.

"I am happy to help Muhoroni secure a berth in the hotly contested top 8 spots in the league. "
