Families of KDF soldiers who were attacked and killed in Somalia are being requested to provide DNA samples to ease identification of their kin. Chief of General Staff Samson Mwathethe says some bodies were destroyed beyond recognition by explosives.

Meanwhile, the government has remained non-committal in disclosing the number of soldiers who died following the attack.  Samson Mwathethe however says the figures will be made public soon.

In related news, ODM MPs want the President to remove Defence CS Raychelle Omamo from the position, saying she isn't inspiring enough to soldiers serving under her.

They also asked the government to withdraw KDF soldiers from Somalia, saying the strategy aimed at wiping out Al-Shabaab had failed.
