Police in Suba are investigating an incident in which a middle-aged man was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend over a debt.

Stephen Joanes was stabbed by his friend Caleb Omondi over a Sh400 debt. Both Joanes and Omondi are residents of Sindo in Suba, Homa Bay County.

The incident occurred when Joanes went to Omondi’s house to inquire about his money which he had borrowed about one month ago.

But unfortunately an angry Omondi turned on his creditor and knifed him several times leaving him to die in a pool of blood.

Homa Bay County Police Commander John Omusanga said Joaness was stabbed in the stomach before he died at Sindo Sub –County hospital.

“The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital where he was taken for treatment,” Omusanga said.

The police boss said they managed to arrest  Omondi and will be interrogated over the incident before being charged in court over murder.

“We would want him to tell us more about what prompted him to kill his creditor,” he added.

Omusnaga said the body of the deceased was taken to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
