The woman, who is said to be suffering from depression, is currently admitted in a private hospital in the area as police moved in to investigate the bizarre incident.
The body of the minor covered in blood was later collected by police and taken to the area mortuary as neighbors tried to come to terms with the murder.
A witness Samuel Njeru said that the woman had been suffering from depression soon after she gave birth and was always under the watch of a relative.
He said that the relative had just stepped outside the house when the housewife turned against the hapless minor stabbing her three times.
“On returning to the house the relative realized what had happened and started screaming attracting neighbors who moved in to assist,” he said.
It was at this time that the woman tried to commit suicide and was rescued while bleeding profusely from her hands and chest and rushed to the private hospital.
According to Gilgil OCPD Sarah Koki, initial investigations indicated that the birth had affected the woman psychologically.
She said that they were waiting for her to recover before establishing which charges she would face at the Naivasha law courts.
“Some women on giving birth suffer from post-natal depression and this could be one of the cases but investigations are going on,” she said.
The incident came barely a fortnight after a casual laborer in the same town murdered his eight-month pregnant wife on ‘orders’ from the spirits.
