Appearing before resident magistrate Gladys Adhiambo on Monday, the eight didn’t take the plea after the persecutor requested for seven days to investigate the matter.
The request was granted and the eight will remain in Ugunja police custody until December 3rd where the case will be mentioned in the same court.
Reacting on the issue during the monitoring of the ongoing KCSE examinations, the KNEC chairman professor George Magoha regretted the moral decay in some of the students.
Addressing journalists at Rangala girls on Monday, Magoha said if they found out that the Ambira students cheated as they have indicated then action will be taken.
“We have already prescribed what we do to people who cheat and that is what we are going to do,” he added.
He said they will not profile any school but if they confirm any school cheated the law will take its course without discrimination.
He clarified that they will only deal with individuals especially those involved in malpractice.
Magoha at the same time condemned parents for failing to raise their children with good morals under the guise of being busy hence have no time with their children.
He regretted that children do what they see their parents doing and not doing what their parents say and that is why some of the students can afford to boost in the public that they have stolen exams.
“If you see students insulting leaders then that reflects badly on parents, parents should parent their children,” Magoha said.
The KNEC chair at the same time banned what four form levers call “academic fire” insisting that its only idiots who burn books after four form.
“There is nothing like academic fire where you burn books before you even know that you have passed when a number of those books belong to the government,” Magoha said.
He added that lack of good parenting has also contributed to the high number of pregnancies in schools.
Magoha condemned parents of allowing students to go to discos at night insisting that those with the responsibility of taking care of children must be very sober.
