NTSA summons driver and conductor for harassing a lady and her child

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has summoned a driver and conductor of a Meru matatu who were filmed harassing a woman and her child for allegedly declining to squeeze on the seats to create space for excess passengers.

NTSA, said they had directed Meru Shuttle Limited officials to present the crew members of the vehicle registration number KBU 254G to their Meru County offices today 9am.

This comes following uproar from Kenyans online calling for action after the matatu driver and conductor, were seen forcing the woman and the minor out of the vehicle while hurling obscenities at her.

One of the passengers, at one point, even pleads with the driver to consider that the woman has a child but he rudely responds saying he didn’t want to know!

During the exchange, the woman is heard asking for her balance of Sh50 but the conductor at first seems adamant to give it to her before finally giving in after the intervention of a passenger.
