King David Rudisha Successfully Defends His Olympic Title!

World record-holder David Rudisha has successfully defended his Olympic title in the men's 800m final in Rio.

Rudisha early this morning clocked 1 minute 42.15 seconds to give Kenya its second gold medal in the ongoing Olympics games in Rio. Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi won silver with Clayton Murphy of the US settling for bronze.

He said: "Running 1:42, it's just fantastic. I had no doubts before. The feeling in my body was good.

"It is great to win such a big competition, my second gold. It's so great. I am so excited. It is the greatest moment of my career." Rudisha said in an interview with BBC.

I dedicate this win to all my fans all over the world and above all to my country; Kenya. To all those who woke up at 4am to watch the race and for all your steadfast support throughout the years. Posted Rudisha on his official Facebook page shortly after his triumphant race.

Meanwhile, world champion Hyvin Kiyeng yesterday won silver medal for team Kenya in the women’s 3000m steeplechase in the ongoing Olympics games. Kiyeng clocked nine minutes and seven seconds to finish behind Kenyan born Ruth Jebet who was representing Bahrain.
