Golden Girl Joyciline Jepkosgei Breaks Four Records At Prague Half Marathon

Joyciline Jepkosgei broke the world record for the women’s half marathon in Prague yesterday, to become, the first female to beat the 1hr 5min mark by one second.

She also broke three more world records in 10 kilometers, 15 kilometeres and 20 kilometers to lead Kenya to a 1-5 finish.

Violah Jepchumba was second ahead of Fancy Chemutai, Valary Jemei and Gladys Chesir as Kenya scooped 9 of the top ten slots.

In the men's category. Ethiopia's Tamirat Tola denied Kenya a clean sweep as he finished ahead of Josephat Kimutai, Geoffrey Yegon and Barselius Kipyego.

Meanwhile, world Junior 800m champion Kipyegon Bett yesterday clocked 1minute 44 seconds to beat a strong field in the 800m race during the national World Relay Championships trials at Kasarani.

Ferguson Rotich and Alfred Kipketer were second and third in that order.

In the 4x200m race Collins Omae beat, Ferdinand Omanyala, Peter Mwai, and Mike Mokamba in that order, as Maximilla Emali, beat Damaris Aokoth, and Peris Chege in the 4x400m women as Jacinta Shikanda, won the  4x800m race.

The team of 30 will camp at Kasarani stadium this month ahead of the April 22-23 Bahamas World Relay Championships.
