Monaco to reimburse supporters who travelled to Paris for 7-1 PSG mauling

Monaco will reimburse their away supporters who attended Sunday's 7-1 thrashing at the hands of at the Parc des Princes.

Leonardo Jardim's side were humiliated by rivals PSG in a result which saw the Parisians wrestle back the title from Monaco.

And Monaco have since agreed to refund the travelling fans who made the seven-hour journey by train north to the French capital.

'Monaco has made the decision to refund the red and white supporters present in the visitors' gallery,' the tweet read. 'The arrangements will be communicated at the beginning of the week.'

The result saw PSG go 17 points clear with just five games remaining, meaning they sealed their fifth Ligue 1 title in six seasons with the other won last year by Monaco.

Giovani Lo Celso and his Argentine compatriot Angel Di Maria netted braces while Edinson Cavani, Julian Draxler and a Radamel Falcao own goal compounded Monaco's misery. Monaco's solitary reply was scored by Rony Lopes.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev, among the 48,000 in attendance at the Parc des Princes, described the result as a 'disaster scenario'.

'The only ones who were up to the task were the supporters and I thank them. They backed the team but we couldn't do anything,' said Vasilyev. 'We'll do everything to make them proud in the next match.'
