The contents of the text Antonio Conte sent Diego Costa have been revealed.

According to Spanish newspaper , the text read: 'Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the seasono [sic] we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan'.

It is understood that Costa then sent the message around to his Chelsea team-mates, stunning the rest of the squad.

Costa took a screen shot of the conversation and also passed it around the Blues staff.

The Spain international went public with the exchange at the start of the week after his country's friendly against Colombia in an attempt to help push through a move to his preferred destination, Atletico Madrid.

Conte sent all of his players a quick message to thank them for the season and outline what they should be doing over the summer to prepare for their title defence.

But his message to Costa made it clear that he had no place in his team next season. And Costa's decision to send the message around means it is almost impossible for him to feature under the Italian again.

AC Milan are keen on the Brazil-born forward but his £9million salary might price them out of the market.

Costa's agent Jorge Mendes met with the Italian giants on Thursday, demanding £200,000-a-week for the player to join the San Siro club.

Milan will not be able to match that figure and could instead turn to one of their alternative targets, which include Alvaro Morata, Andrea Belotti and Andre Silva.

Chelsea may be willing to let Costa depart on loan, subsiding some of his pay packet, but Milan's new owners are not willing to add a marquee signing on a temporary basis.
