On Thursday last week, all roads led to Tanzania for the much-awaited match between Kenya's Gor Mahia and English side, Everton FC.

The match served as an icing on the SportPesa-sponsored, super cup cake, which saw Gor Mahia beat their local nemesis, AFC Leopards 3-0 to win the inaugural tourney.

However the hype surrounding the match was propelled by the fact that former Manchester United and England captain, Wayne Rooney was travelling with Everton, days after re-joining Merseyside club.

The star studded side saw thousands of Gor Mahia fans flock the East African country, painting the City green and white.

Gor Mahia went on to produce a mouth watering performance which saw them lose 2-1 to the much experienced side, with Wayne Rooney grabbing the headlines with a 35-yard opening goal.

It is reported that hours after the the dust had settled, dozens of Gor Mahia female fans, popularly known as 'Gor Mahia Divas' were left stranded in Dar es Salaam.

According to Pulse, the women who are believed to have traveled to Tanzania thanks to their male 'Sponsors' were left in the country after they allegedly hooked up with other men.

Their actions irked their sponsors who chose to 'teach them a lesson.'

Days later, some of the women still could not make their way home and were forced to contact their families in a bid to salvage the situation.
