Zesco United Confirm Calabar Signing

Zambian club, Zesco United, has confirmed the signed of Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars defender David "Calabar" Owino.

In a statement on the club's official Facebook and Twitter pages, the Zambian champions listed the 26-year old as one of the players the club has signed in preparation for the next season.

Calabar has also been included in the club's provisional squad for the 2015 CAF Champions League where they will be expected to take on Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland in the preliminary round.

Zesco United Football Club is happy to announce that a number of players have been acquired in order to reinforce the team that won the 2014 FAZ/MTN league and Barclay’s Cup as the team is set to participate in the 2015 CAF Champions League.

Two local players namely Misheck Chaila from Kabwe Warriors and Humphrey Maseneko from Konkola Blades have joined the club on permanent transfers.

The club has also acquired Nigerian Ayo Ouluwafemi, 26, a left-back  who was a free agent and formerly of University of Pretoria, David Odhiambo, a 26-year old central defender from Gor Mahia Kenya, Jonas Sakuwaha, 28-year old striker from TP Mazembe, Democratic Republic of Congo and 22-year old striker Christopher Chigozie from Bayelsa United, Nigeria.

Further the club wishes to announce that Innocent Mwaba has been recalled from a two-year loan at Ferroviarro De Maputo in Mozambique, Kondwani Mtonga has returned from a six-month loan at North East Club in India.

The club has since opened talks with Mamelodi Sundowns to extend Togolese Mathias Emmanuel’s loan deal.

Gift Sakuwaha and Kangwa Chileshe have requested to be given chance to look for clubs that will enable them gain playing time whereas Zimiseleni Moyo has decided not to renew his contract and has since gone back to Zimbabwe after spending five years at the club.
