Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno has condemned Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the area and called for concerted efforts to ensure that it is brought to an end.

Speaking during an Educational Forum that brought together over 1,000 students from colleges and Universities in the Constituency held at Dikirr Town on Wednesday, Ng’eno said that no woman should undergo the primitive process.

Ng’eno said it has always been his position that no girl or woman should be forced to undergo FGM and that the recent reports appearing in the Media over the proliferation of the practice in the area was a matter of concern since it was giving the local residents a negative image before other Kenyans.

“Let me say without any fear of contradiction that Female Genital Mutilation has got no place in the modern world and those found engaging in FGM practices should face the full force of the law, however I am calling on all stakeholders to join hands in educating our people about the dangers and the legal implications of engaging in the proscribed practice,” said Ng’eno.
