The 55-year-old man used a sharp knife to murder his 36-year-old wife before turning to their helpless nine year daughter who was sleeping in Saliti village near Engineer town.
And on completing his evil mission, the semi-naked man used a rope to hang himself inside the one roomed house in the agriculture rich area.
Emotions ran high as members of the public and relatives tried to come to terms with the heinous attack by the man was about to retire from the Kenya Forest Services.
According to area Chief Magdalene Wambui Kariuki, members of the public got curious after they failed to spot the family in the morning.
She said that the couple had been cohabiting for some years adding that they were yet to understand the motive behind the murder.
“On knocking there was no response but through a crack on the wall some of the bodies could be seen and police were called in,” he said.
The chief termed the scene as disturbing adding that blood from the mother and the daughter was splashed all over the walls and personal effects.
“The mother and daughter were lying on their bed with their throats slit while the man had hanged himself from the roof,” she said.
Speaking on phone, Kinangop OCPD Yawa Chome confirmed the incident adding that investigations had started.
Chome said that the suspect did not leave behind any suicide note adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to the local morgue.
“The initial information we have is that the man killed his wife and nine-year-old daughter before using a rope to commit suicide,” said the police boss.
