SAD: Details of the 13-year-old boy who drowned in the school swimming pool

Losing a loved one is never easy.

A family in Lanet, Nakuru county is mourning their son after drowning in a school swimming pool in mysterious circumstanes.

Samuel Munge, who was 13 years old,  was just a week old in the school after being transferred there.

Munge was a standard six pupil at Roots Academy in Nakuru town. The boy drowned while he was swimming in the school pool.

The head teacher of the school Collins Odhiambo  said the class was having a swimming lesson at around 2pm when Samuel Munge, who was not a good swimmer drowned and was rushed to the hospital.

"I was alerted of the incident by the swimming teacher and immediately rushed the pupil to fountain medical center after he died while undergoing treatment," Collins Odhiambo said.

Samuel parents wants the case to be investigated as they come to terms with the death of their son.

The body was taken to PN Funeral home as the family prepares the burial.

James Kariuki says that he was called that afternoon to go to the hospital where the boy was rushed after the incident.

"I had just transferred him to Roots Academy a week ago with hopes that he will improve in his studies.It is so sad that he died so soon," Said the father.

He was young and promising child whose presence lacks in the house you would know," added the father.
