After registering a poor start to the campaign, losing 7-24 to New Zealand and drawing 114-14 with Russia, Kenya Sevens picked themselves up and despite being knocked out of the main cup, Shujaa went on a winning spree bagging the Challenge trophy in the process.

Kenya Sevens registered nail biting wins against Russia (12-10) Chile (21-19) France (14-7) before defeating Samoa (21-14) in a pulsating final to lift the trophy, Shujaa's second silverware this year, after clinching the same title in Wellington.

All time top try scorer Collins Injera made his 242nd try, captain Andrew Amonde added one as Samy Oliech converted for a 14-0 first half lead. Amonde completed his brace while Oliech converted to tame the Samoans who had leveled matters at 14 all.

Meanwhile, South Africa continued their dominance in the series with a 19-12 win over Fiji in the finals, to clinch the Las Vegas main cup. This was the Blitzboks's 4th title in 5 series.

Hosts USA finished third with a 19-15 win over New Zealand.
