A sombre Mood At Kapedo As 19 Victims In A road Accident Laid To Rest

A sombre mood engulfed the Kapedo village as 19 victims involved in a last week's tragic road accident at Marigat-Kapedo road were laid to rest on Monday.

The accident  at Loruk along the Marigat-Kapedo road claimed 21 lives.

MPs Ali Lokiru (Turkana East) and James Lomenen (Turkana South) and Third Way Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot termed the heinous act of pokot bandits.

On 17th December, one person was shot dead  as a convoy of caskets of victims were being taken to kapedo were attacked by suspected Pokot bandits at Chestet Primary School.

Turkana leaders have condemned security agencies and their counterparts from Baringo and West Pokot counties for the constant banditry attacks and encroachment of Turkana land.

Speaking during the burial, leaders said the conflict had been left to worsen with the Turkana at the receiving end of these attacks.

"The insecurity situation along border with Baringo and West Pokot counties caused by border conflicts have gone on for a long time and it's time we find a solution, and we will,"Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok said.

He cited the lack of a law to solve county boundary conflicts as one of reasons for the problem.
