Baringo Youth Kills Self After Elder Brother Allegedly Sold All His Eight Goats

A 25-year old man from Rondinin village in Kipsaraman, Baringo North Sub-county killed himself by taking poison after his elder brother allegedly sold his eight goats without his consent on Tuesday.

The deceased Kipkemei Tobero succumbed upon arrival at Baringo County referral hospital in Kabarnet town, where he was rushed for treatment.

Reports say the deceased had on Monday last week complained accusing his brother Kimuge Tobero (32) for auctioning out all his eight goats plus the kids down in Rondinin village without his knowledge.

“The two had even picked a quarrel and fought over the goats before the younger brother decided to take poison” said a neighbor Raphael Cherutoi.

Cherutoi said they heard unusual screams around 11am and they rushed to help, “we met him when he had already taken the poison, lying flat on the ground and helpless with a bottle of poison, then we assisted to rush him to the hospital where he lost his life upon arrival” he said.

Another resident Wilson Sumukwo said while they helped the deceased aboard a boda boda his elder brother Kimuge who seemed to not care kept saying, “He should be left to die after all”.

Their aging father, former public servant and vibrant village elder Tobero Rutto is sickly from a stroke and hence could not utter a word to the media on Wednesday.

Kipkata location Chief Isaac Tobole confirmed the incident saying it is a regrettable incident losing such a humble and hardworking young man.

Tobole said the late youthful had earlier reported his missing goats to Rondinin Sub-location assistant chief Reuben Chelimo, accusing his elder brother but his case was yet to be handled.

He also noted that the deceased picked quarrel and with his elder brother over the missing goats before taking his own life.

“It must have been such painful encounters for him losing all his source of livelihood that is why he might have chosen to take his own life” said Tobole.
