Details of Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru's upcoming wedding

Anne Waiguru and her lover Kamotho Waiganjo have settled on July 13, next month as the day they will exchange their vows to officially become husband and wife.

The powerful couple will solemnise their marriage in a Kikuyu traditional wedding ceremony known as Ngurario which will take place at Kiamugumo Primary School in Kirinyaga county.

This is according to an invitation card that was released in the media yesterday. It is below;

Traditionally, the ceremony, which does not have to take place in a church, happens before the woman can be allowed to go to the man's place.

Ngurario normally starts with the slaughtering of a goat by the groom and his relatives and friends at the bride's place. The knife used in slaughtering the animal is provided by the soon-to-be mother-in-law, but there is a twist, the mother-in-law must be enticed with a gift before she can give out the knife. The animal's meat is then roasted.
