First photos of CJ Maranga after the Nakuru freak road accident

Chief Justice David Maranga has spoken out after being involved in a freak accident today morning.

The police in Nakuru released a statement outlining how the accident happened.

The report read, "Serious injury road traffic accident Report. Occurred today 22/12/2018 at about 10.10hrs along Eldoret - Nakuru highway at Ngata area.

It happened that one No. 71648 cpl /DRV Samwel Kinyanjui was driving m/v reg. No. GKB 750B Mercedez Benz attached to the Chief Justice from Eldoret direction towards Nakuru town.

On reaching at the location of the accident he collided head on with m/v reg. No. KWW 502 Toyota DX being driven by one Jonathan Kigen who joined the main highway from the feeder road without giving way. As a result of the accident the occupants of the GKB 750B vehicle (1).

Hon. Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga sustained injury on the forehead and his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Maraga sustained neck injury. Both were rushed to War Memorial Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

The driver of the other car Jonathan Kigen was rushed to Valley Hospital Nakuru and admitted with head injury.

Scene was visited and necessary action taken, both motor vehicles towed to Nakuru Police station yard awaiting inspection."

At a press briefing today, Maraga said there's no cause for alarm for the injured are in a stable condition.

"We are in a stable condition hence no need for alarm. We will be airlifted to Nairobi Hospital for further medical check ups," said the CJ.
