Kericho Man Almost Dismisses Important Call About Wining Swanky BMW (PHOTOS)

Franklin Korir, 33, from Kericho County was the grand winner of a brand new BMW X1 in the just concluded RedDot consumer operation featuring EABL product brands.

Korir, like most Kenyans was hesitant and skeptical when someone called him saying he was a winner.

“At first, I thought the caller was playing a joke on me and so I dismissed the call. The caller, was however, persistent calling me on subsequent days relaying the same news. After consulting with close confidants, I decided to go to EABL to establish if the calls were credible. It is when I arrived at the EABL Headquarters that I confirmed that I was the winner,” said Korir at the handover ceremony.

Adding, "I’m going to give my old car to my wife and I will be driving this state-of-the-art luxury car to Kericho.”

The BMW X1 is lauded as a power ride by many car enthusiasts. Car US News describes the machine as one that enjoys spirited acceleration thanks to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 228 horsepower. The front-wheel-drive X1 is possibly the most fun-to-drive car in the class. It handles well, with a tight turning radius making it highly manoeuvrable.

A sleek design and an abundance of high-end materials line the X1’s interior, making it an appealing place to spend time. The five-seat X1 comes standard with leatherette upholstery and power-adjustable front seats. Cargo space is best in the segment.

This is a very good SUV, but there is one thing that’s notably missing. The BMW X1 is the only vehicle in the class that doesn't come standard with any active safety features. If you want a rearview camera, for example, you’ll have to pay an additional $1,150 for the Driver Assistance package.
