KOT demand Eliud Kipchoge get state commendation after winning 4th London marathon

Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge won the London Marathon for the fourth time on Sunday.

He broke the world marathon again. Kipchoge finished 59 seconds shy of his world record of 2:01:39.

“I’m happy to win on the streets of London for the fourth time and to make history,” Kipchoge told BBC Sport.

Many politicians praised him as a humble athlete, catching the attention of KOT.

KOT have demanded that the athlete should be honored in the next list of State honors. Back in 2018, when a list was released, President Uhuru faced the wrath of Kenyans who noted that Kipchoge's name was missing from the state honors.

While speaking about the good job that Kipchoge has done, Kenyans have criticised the government for honoring the wrong people.

Last time a new list was released, Kenyans were unhappy that people like Githeri man, Jackie Maribe and Kikuyu singer Ben Githae were among the list. Many said they were not deserving of a state commendation.

Here are some reactions:

Gabriel Oguda...

A timely reminder that four of the persons pictured below have Head of State Commendations for eating, drinking and propagating nothing in particular. While one hasn't been honored for breaking marathon records and putting Kenya on the world athletics map. Kenya in one tweet.

Yussuf Osman..

It's only in Kenya where people who made Kenya great is never recognized

William Masiga..

You know he is about to now that you have mentioned it. Like the honoured teacher who only got recognition from here after it was pointed out.

Sospeter Stephen..

The problem is not those who received HSC but who issued them.
