Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua put two county executives on three months' compulsory leave in cabinet changes announced on Thursday.

Mutua sent Francis Maliti (Water) and Larry Wambua (Public Service) on leave amid the changes which he said are over lethargy, corruption, insubordination, sabotage and laxity.

"If you want to be corrupt, move away from Machakos," he said in a press conference at his office in Machakos town and asked county staff to either get on board with his Maendeleo Chap Chap ideology or quit.

Chief mechanical engineer Peter Kimeu and Roads director David Mbatha were suspended indefinitely.

The Governor said Grace Mungut will act as county secretary, and appointed Julius Muingai acting Roads chief officer.
