Meet Nico Marley, Bob Marley's Grandson Who Chose Football Over Music

When Bob Marley's name is being mentioned one thing is clear; His legacy in the music world and the impact he had during his career which saw him being dubbed as the king of reggae music.

Bob Marley's legacy was passed on to his children and grand children who have been working tirelessly to emulate the legend's legacy across the world.

But just when you thought the entire Marley's lineage is all about music and long dreadlocks then you are yet to meet Nico Marley, Bob Marley's grandson who unlike the others decided to follow a different path. American football.

Nico is up and running in the famous National Football League (NFL) after being signed by the Washington Redskins.

Nico Marley, a linebacker out of Tulane, has signed a deal with the Skins after impressing during rookie minicamp and was added to the NFC East franchise's roster in early May, 2017.

The undrafted linebacker was a four-year starter in college, becoming Tulane's all-time leader in tackles for loss with 50. He had 319 tackles, six sacks and four interceptions in 49 games.

After he was officially signed by the team, he posted an image of himself signing his deal, wearing a Redskins cap, with the caption: 'Blessed to officially be apart of the @Redskins organization!'

According to DailyMail, his signing by no means confirms Marley as an NFL talent, though. He faces a real battle to make the Redskins squad when the season begins in September, with their current 90-man roster needing to be cut to 53 in time for the start of the campaign.

'I always wanted to make something for myself,' he said during a in 2014.

'I've never said, "I'm gonna do it like my dad did it," or "I want to be like my grandfather."

'Every individual is supposed to have something he wants to go get, something he wants so bad he don't need anybody's help. That's what I get from my father and grandfather.'
