Five key Gor Mahia players who were called up by Harambee Stars coach Stanley Okumbi, failed to show up at the national side's camp on Monday owing to club engagements.

The team commenced their training sessions on Monday in preparation for the crucial friendly tie, as Football Kenya Federation gears up for the 2018 Chan tournament set to be held in Kenyan soil, where they intend to have Harambee Stars play at-least one friendly match a month.

The five who include Boniface Oluoch, Musa Mohammed, Harun Shakava, Ernest Wendo and Kenneth Muguna will now miss the national team's International friendly against Malawi, scheduled for Tuesday April 18, 20117 at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos.

This comes just days after Gor Mahia claimed their third win of the season on Saturday courtesy of Meddie Kagere's lone goal against Kakamega Homeboyz.

Since our last two international matches which saw Harambee Stars draw against Uganda before skinning DRC Congo 2-1 at Machakos, Kenya has since moved up 10 slots in the latest Fifa’s world rankings for April to position 78.
