Mombasa court has ordered two officers dismissed for allegedly blocking presidential motorcade be reinstated back to the national police service.

Labour and industrial court Judge James Rika said the two were unfairly dismissed without being given a fair trial by their bosses.

Police constable Joel Atuti and corporal Barnaba Ruto were dismissed in January, 2016 for allegedly blocking president Uhuru Kenyatta motorcade along Sabasaba-Nyali road.

They were arrested and remanded for five days after they were denied police bond as the proceedings of their cases continued.

President Uhuru said he had personally witnessed the officers receiving a bribe from a matatu driver hence the parking of the patrol car in the middle of the road.

They challenged their dismissal and asked the court to order for their reinstatement.
