More than 500,000 newly born children countrywide missed out on the important polio and measles vaccination because of the pro-longed nurses’ strike, the Kenya Red Cross has said.

According to Kenya Red Cross, the half-a-million children were denied the simple basic right of vaccination in public hospitals because of the squabbling between nurses and government for over five months.

Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Dr Abbas Gullet said the consequences of missing on these two vaccines will be seen within the next one or two years if the matter is not addressed immed.
