Naivasha AP officer shoots lover 19 times before committing suicide

A jilted AP officer has committed suicide by shooting himself in the head moments after shooting and seriously injuring his girlfriend in Naivasha.

During the incident, the officer attached to Kipkonyo chief’s camp in Moi Ndabi left the girlfriend seriously injured after firing at her nineteen times.

Trouble started after the officer who was allegedly drunk confronted the girlfriend who operates an Mpesa shop and the two had an argument according to a witness Saul Kimani.

Kimani added that the officer shot at the woman nineteen times with three of the bullets hitting her on the hips before he fled.

“Thinking he had killed her, the officer retreated to the camp where he shot himself on the head and died on the spot,” he said.

Naivasha deputy county commissioner John Opondo confirmed the incident adding that the woman had been admitted in Naivasha sub-county hospital in serious condition.

“The AP officer after shooting the girlfriend went back to the camp and shot himself dead and an inquest file has been opened,” he said.

And a flower farm worker heading to work was attacked by unknown people near the Naivasha prison, raped and later strangled to death.

“The woman is well known and she was attacked at around 5am while on her way to work before she was raped and murdered,” said a motorcycle operator James Karani.

And a few meters from the scene, two middle aged men who were riding on a motorcycle along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway were hit and killed by a motorist.

According to Karani, the two had earlier visited the scene where the woman was murdered when the car that was heading to Nakuru from Nairobi hit and killed them.

“The two were crossing from one end of the road to the other and did not check if there was an incoming vehicle when the speeding car hit and killed them on the spot,” he said.

And the day was summed up when a suspected thief was lynched by members of the public after trying to rob another woman on her way to work near Guest Inn area.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the five incidents adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.

“We have lost five people including a police officer and a flower farm worker and in all the cases inquest files have been opened,” he said.
