Nyeri MCA Peter Weru Dies Hours After Collapsing While Addressing A Gathering On Jamhuri Day

A Nyeri MCA Peter Weru is dead.

Weru who is Ward Rep for Ruguru died today as he was being treated at Outspan hospital.

Nyeri County Speaker John Kagucia said Weru felt dizzy as he was addressing a gathering during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nduduini Primary School in Mathira Constituency and was rushed to hospital.

"It is very unfortunate that Nyeri county we also mourning another leader. Weru was addressing a gathering but felt some weakness and requested he be taken to the doctor but unfortunately he succumbed," Kagushi said.

The speaker said Weru on Monday attended a special county sitting that deliberated on key issues affecting the county.

"He was very Jovial and active and we have not been told of any serious health condition that he suffered," he said.

The Medical officer in charge of the hospital said the MCA died of a heart attack.

Dr Jeff Muigai said the deceased was admitted at the facility after he was referred from Jamii Hospital where he had received first aid.

Governor Mutahi Kahiga said the county has yet again lost a dedicated leader who was focused to ensuring better service delivery to the people.

Kahiga said Weru played a critical role as he was the chairperson of the healthservices for the county.

No one can really predict his death. It is such unfortunate but as a government we shall do all we can to help the family and accord the late a befiting burial," he said.

Kahiga said the death of Weru is a blow in a time the county is yet to swallow the death of former governor Nderitu Gachagua.
