Police officers providing security for national Youth Service officials building the Kenya Somali border wall and roads claim they have not been paid allowances for two months.

The 31 Administration and regular police officers alleged that they were promised an allowance of Sh6,300 but are yet to receive the money .

This is despite the fact that the officers work in harsh conditions and risk area prone to attacks by the Al Shabaab. The area they are is not very far from where Al Shabaab injured KDF soldiers on Sunday after they planted Improvised Explosive devises.

Speaking on condition of anonymity as they are not allowed to speak to the media, the officer claim they even do not know who is supposed to pay their allowances. Their Mandera counterparts along the border also have reportedly not been given allowances.

When they reported to the camp two months ago the security officer said they were told to give out their Bank accounts numbers but nothing has been deposited ever since.

Lamu County Commander Chrispus Mutali however dismissed the allegations saying all officers were on payroll every month.
