President Uhuru has warned leaders and criminals perpetrating violence in the North Rift and Laikipia that the government would deal with them firmly.

Uhuru said the North Rift region had in the recent past seen an escalation of violence with communities displaced, property destroyed and death but the government was in the process of restoring order.

“I want to be perfectly clear: these perpetrators of violence and lawlessness in the North Rift, Laikipia and elsewhere will be dealt with. There is no room here for those who want to divide us. ”, he said.

He said there was no room in Kenya for those who who want to take away the property others have labored to build.

“And there is absolutely no room for those who would raise their hands against their brothers and countrymen”, said Uhuru. He warned that leaders who incite the violence would be made to learn their lessons.

Uhuru told the military recruits that Kenyans require of them complete integrity, flawless discipline and implicit of loyality to their superiors, colleagues and institutions established by law.

“Kenyans expect these things of you not just because of the importance of your mission but also because of the reputation and importance of the institution that you formally join today”, said Uhuru.

He said KDF had a long standing tradition of upholding the very highest of standards and hence the reason why they are usually invited to serve in peace keeping missions internationally.
