Siku Za Mwizi Ni Arubaini! Angry residents pounce on cattle rustler as his parents watch

Irate residents of a Naivasha village pounced on a cattle rustler who was driving away stolen goats and lynched him as his parents watched. During the incident at Nyamathi village, the residents recovered all the stolen livestock as they decried the rising cases of cattle rustling in the area.

Trouble started after unknown people raided one of the farms and escaped with six goats and sheep and tethered them in some bushes. A witness Jason Wamari said that area residents managed to trace the livestock and lay a trap for whoever would come to pick them.

After waiting for over three hours, the suspect came over and as he was driving the livestock away the irate members of the public pounced on him. ''Area residents have for years suspected that the man was behind the spate of robberies and this was confirmed when he was caught red handed driving away the stolen animals,'' he said.

Wamari added that the father to the suspect was called over by the owner of the livestock so that the issue could be discussed and resolved amicably. '' The father said that he had had enough with the son over his criminal habits and left telling the mob to do as they wished,'' he said.

A senior police officer who declined to be named confirmed the incident adding that the body had been collected and taken to the local mortuary. ''The father to the suspect has reported to the police station saying that he does not want any case but to collect the body and bury it,'' said the officer.
