Uhuru, Museveni fail to agree over Sh400bn proposed crude oil pipeline

A meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Uganda's Yoweri Museveni on the controversial oil pipeline failed to resolve the matter, with another meeting announced for Kampala in two weeks.

According to , the discussions were deferred to the technical teams of the two countries, after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni failed to come to an agreement after a lengthy meeting.

Uhuru is set to travel to Kampala in two weeks when the technical teams are expected to deliver their verdict on whether the pipeline would pass through Kenya or Tanzania.

The meeting will look at among others the least cost route for the pipeline, proven oil reserves which will inform the size of the pipeline, and the viability of the Lamu, Mombasa and Tanga ports as export options.
