Wanyama mourns death of ex-Thika United captain Dennis Lewa who was among 56 killed in Fort Ternan crash

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has mourned the death of former Thika United captain, Dennis Lewa who was among the 56 passengers who perished in the Wednesday Fort Ternan bus crash.

Wanyama also prayed that God may give his family comfort during this hard time.

He wrote,

My heartfelt condolences goes out to family,friends and fans of for the loss of their captain Dennis Lewa. God Rest your soul in Peace Brother, and to your family may the lord give you comfort during this hard time 🙏.


Kenya Premier League on Thursday said it was deeply saddened by the news.

“It is with deep sadness that we learn of the demise of Thika United player Dennis Lewa who passed on in the tragic accident at Fort Ternan on Wednesday,” KPL tweeted.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and Thika United during this time.”

Lewa was heading to Kakamega to seal a move to KPL side Kakamega Homeboyz.

Kericho police commander James Mugera said the accident occurred after the Homeboyz bus’ brakes failed.

The driver lost control of the vehicle as it descended the black spot. The bus veered off the road and rolled several times.
