WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Kenya's Quest For Gold Continues Sunday In Men's And Women's Marathon

Kenya's search for more medals in the IAAF world athletics championship continues today in both the men's and women's marathon.

The men's marathon gets underway at 12.55 pm and Kenya will be represented by Daniel Wanjiru, Gideon Kipketer and Geoffrey Kirui.

The women's marathon will be held later on at 4pm with Edna Kiplagat seeking to win her third world title. Other Kenyans in the race include Flomena Cheyech and Helah Kiprop.

Meanwhile Ezekiel Kemboi starts his quest for a fifth title in the men's steeplechase when the race heats get underway at 12.05 pm. Kemboi will race in heat 2, Jairus Birech will be in heat one while Conseslus Kipruto and Brimin Kipruto will race in heat three.

The final of this race will be held on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Kenya won a Bronze medal in the women's 10,000 metres courtesy of Agnes Tirop. The race was won by Ethiopian Almaz Ayana followed by Tirunesh Dibaba.

Another Kenyan Alice Aprot finished fourth.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Korir, Ferguson Rotich and Kipyegon Bett are through to the semi finals of the men's 800m after winning their respective heats in yesterday's races.

Bett clocked one minute and forty five seconds to finish first in heat one while Rotich clocked one minute and forty five second to finish first in heat three.

Korir was first in heat four after clocking one minute and forty seven seconds. However it was bad day for two Kenyans in the men's 400m after their failed to ease into the semi finals.

However Boniface Mweresa qualified for the semi finals after finishing fourth in heat three in a time of 45.58 seconds.
